Project Description
Design-assist delivery of a new 4-story residential building and attached 2-story resource center providing affordable housing and services. This initiative by the City and County of Honolulu (Dept. of Land Mgmt.) fast-tracked the redevelopment of an underutilized lot in downtown Honolulu. Three floors of rental micro-apartments, 27 units total, are supplemented by valuable amenities and services integral to serving the community. Amenities include an elevator, a commercial kitchen, a group dining space, a community laundry, storage, conference rooms, and offices providing outreach and support. This project installed a vegetated biofilter planter system, a notable first. This system uses an engineered soil mix and plantings to filter runoff water prior to discharge into the sanitary system.
